Here is how to save an image so that it is website ready using the free progam Irfanview

You need to download Irfanview and install it first! Once you have dine that proceed as follows to process your images so that they are website ready, fast loading, and looking crisp and professional.

Open the image to resize and resample it.

Set the dpi (Dots Per Inch) to 72 or 75

Then set the image width. For a website an image for an article will usually be smaller than 600px or for a full screen background image make it no bigger than 1920px

Save the image in a folder where you can find it!

Compress the image so that it loads quickly.

A setting of 82 works well for most images though feel free to experiment.
