How do I setup my email program securely?

Some computerjazz.net hosting accounts come equipped with email that can be setup as either POP3 accounts or IMAP accounts.

Settings for all methods including autoinstall options can be be found in cpanel under the "Email" icon.

In a nutshell, to set up an email account using secure login use settings similar to the following in your email program either on your computer or smartphone:

Option 1. POP3 Setup

POP3 downloads all of the emails to your device. This option is best if you do not want your mail account to eventually fill up and go over quota.

Select account type: POP3

Username: The email address of the mailbox
Password: The password you entered in cpanel or webmail

Incoming Server: mbase.computerjazz.net
Incoming POP3 Port: 995
Security: SSL/TLS (If you have the option choose auto or TLS. If that doesn't work use SSL)

Outgoing Server: mbase.computerjazz.net
Outgoing SMTP Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS (If you have the option choose auto or TLS. If that doesn't work use SSL)
Use same credentials for outgoing.
Require Sign In: Yes
Authentication type: plain or normal password.

Option 2. IMAP Setup

IMAP doesn't download emails from the server - it only downloads a copy of them. This is best if you need your inbox on several devices to remain identical. It is more a less a mirror of what is on the server. IMAP though will fill up your email account eventually. If you need large IMAP support it might be best if we help you syncronise your email in Gmail or Hotmail so you can have a very large quota but keep your own domain name email address.

Select account type: IMAP

Username: The email address of the mailbox
Password: The password you entered in cpanel or webmail

Incoming Server: mbase.computerjazz.net
Incoming IMAP Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS (If you have the option choose auto or TLS. If that doesn't work use SSL)
IMAP prefix: leave this blank

Outgoing Server: mbase.computerjazz.net
Outgoing SMTP Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS (If you have the option choose auto or TLS. If that doesn't work use SSL)
Use the same username and password credentials as per incoming.
Require Sign In: Yes
Authentication type: plain or normal password.
