Second level .au domain names that will look like yourdomainname.au will become available in 2019.

For example one of our domain names is computerjazz.com.au

The new Australian second level domain will look like computerjazz.au

The auDA board adopted the proposed Implementation Rules for the .au Namespace at their meeting on 20 May 2019.

The new .au domain names will be a new option and complement the other Australian domain names .com.au, .net.au, .org.au, id.au and .asn.au.

It is anticipated that licences for the new .au domains will be available for registration in Q4 2019.

Under the implementation rules if you are an existing registrant of an .au domain you will be able to apply for priority status to register the exact match of your existing .au domain. For example because we are the registrant of computerjazz.com.au we will be able to apply for priority registration of computerjazz.au

Details of the priority allocation system can be found in the Implementation Rules PDF.

This will certainly be a very popular domain suffix for Australian businesses and organisations so stay tuned for more info about how to ensure that you register the .au that you need.

If you would like to make sure that you don't miss out on your preffered .au domain names contact us with a list of domain names that you would like to pre-register and we will add you to our priority action list and make sure that you get your .au
